Dubuji Boardwalk is in the Daintree National Park, Far North Queensland, Australia. I have used a mix of Acrylic paint, as well as pure pigments. Atelier translucent acrylic for transparency in the water reflection and tree roots. The Pigments and mixed flat and chalky to give the tops of the trees waterlogged fat bulbous appearance.

This Mangrove forest is one of the best examples of ancient mangrove swamps I’ve seen. Stunning cathedral shapes offering fantastic light and form. The forest can be found on the Dubuji Boardwalk in Cape Tribulation. My studio is just up the road from this walk, and I have spent many years painting as well as walking in this forest. The Miallo Beach is at the end of the trail.

Not only is this an acrylic painting on canvas, but it was also painted for the Up North 2019 Calender. Jill Booth local Port Douglas artist organises the calendar annually to raise money for the Port Douglas Artists group. This year’s Calendar was as usual full of fantastic artworks for the local artists.
