The bold and colourful paintings created by Dr Sylvia Ditchburn is the essence of her art. Since coming to north Queensland from the Darling Downs in the 1960s Ditchburn has been inspired by the dramatic tropical environment with its ambience, vibrant colours and abundance.

Essentially painting en Plein air she is widely travelled in Australia from Townsville to Broome, Alice to Adelaide and beyond in search of amazing subjects for her art.

Formally trained with 4 art degrees: Diploma of Fine Arts, Museum Curatorship (Distinction), Masters (first class) and PhD at James Cook University. Invited judge for many Art Exhibitions and tutor of art workshops in Townsville, Perth and Norfolk Is. Art residencies in the famous Arthur Boyd’s property Bundanon, Sails on the Desert, Uluru central Australia and Redgate Gallery, Beijing.

More than 55 solo exhibitions in Australia, Russia, China, New York, and group shows in Paris and Budapest Sylvia’s work is held in public and private collections nationally and internationally. Dr Sylvia Ditchburn remains passionate about her art and the environment.
